FAQ
Below you will find answers to frequently asked questions.
Which company produces the i-paint XL?
We are a young semi-autonomous robotics company in Germany, founded in Frankfurt (Main) in 2022 by a Singapore-listed company and a German management team with the aim of revolutionising the European market for urbanisation and infrastructure applications through new innovations in construction robotics.
Our goal is to simplify and secure the execution of previously manual work in the construction, painting and coating industries. Work safety, high-quality results, resource conservation and a measurable contribution to sustainability in the economy and society are at the heart of everything we do. To achieve this, we use innovations whose impact goes far beyond the technologies used. In this way, we enable our business partners to have a positive impact on their customers, partners and communities.
Has the i-paint XL already been tested?
A pilot project took place at the sat Group in Darmstadt. Here, the robot was used for the first time in trial operation to demonstrate its efficiency and quality in a real industrial environment.
What area was covered in this pilot project? The area to be coated covered around 507 square metres. The hall measured 19.81 metres x 52.64 metres, with wall heights of up to 3.50 metres, being processed by the robot.

What sets us apart?
Our corporate culture is characterised by respectful interaction, honesty and openness. We keep our word, and that applies to everyone. We are a strong community. Our team members include craftsmen, engineers and business experts, that are equally important and indispensable. Our customers place their trust in us, and it is our job to respect and maintain that trust!
What motivates us?
Our mission is to provide innovative products and ideas for the skilled trades, enabling individuals to engage in higher-value and collaborative work while delegating monotonous and hazardous tasks to robots. Accordingly, we manufacture and supply semi-autonomous mobile robots specifically designed for the construction industry.
Why are we launching this product on the European market?
Europe faces major tasks and challenges to achieve the very ambitious environmental goals it has set itself. First and foremost, the targets for reducing CO2 emissions must be met. The use of our mobile and semi-autonomous robots reduces resource consumption and significantly lowers our partners’ carbon footprint. Savings in material and personnel costs lead to increases in productivity.
What makes us unique?
We stand for visionary semi-automatic robot applications in the construction sector. In particular, for tasks involving painting, facade protection, thermal insulation, and renovation. To achieve this, we efficiently and effectively combine experience and expertise in the fields of painting, electrical engineering, proprietary programming, industrial design and CAD.
When will the i-paint XL be available on the European market?
Field tests took place under real-life conditions in autumn 2024. We expect these tests to be completed successfully, allowing us to launch the product on the European market shortly thereafter.
What is our strategy for achieving and maintaining success in the European market?
Companies that fully share, support and actively promote our purpose and goals will be eligible to become our partners. We grant our partners exclusive rights to use our products and exclusive access to our network, giving them easier access to further technical innovations.
Who is i-paint XL intended for?
The i-paint XL is designed for industrial construction use. It aids painters in painting high interior walls in production halls and warehouses. It is suitable for both initial coating and subsequent renovation or refurbishment work. It can handle walls up to eight metres high.
How many square metres are needed for the i-paint XL to be cost-effective?
Painters considering using our i-paint XL should bear in mind that it can paint approx. 0.7 square metres of wall surface per second.
What is the process for collaborating with the i-paint XL team?
Each i-paint XL is accompanied by one of our four-person teams on the construction site and managed on behalf of our customers to ensure optimal performance. The i-paint XL requires no additional personnel from customers or partners. In addition, a task force is always available at our company headquarters to provide support to our team on site at any time.
Can I purchase the i-paint XL?
The high performance of the i-paint XL can be utilised by our customers and partners together with the accompanying and controlling team on a project-specific basis for the painting work to be carried out. It is not available for purchase.
Are there any other i-paint X products?
Further i-paint X products are planned for 2026 to support additional work in industrial construction and the thermal renovation of industrial and residential buildings.
What drives the demand for painting robots in industrial applications?
In the industrial construction and maintenance sector, there are huge areas that need to be painted or coated on a regular basis. Especially for projects with high ceilings or large wall surfaces, hiring skilled personnel is time-consuming, expensive and physically demanding. Painting robots such as i-paint XL offer an attractive alternative: they work efficiently and consistently, enabling a new form of automation in a sector that has hardly been digitised to date.
Which projects are particularly suitable for painting robots such as the i-paint XL?
Construction projects with large, clearly structured wall and ceiling surfaces are best suited. These include logistics centres, production halls, clean rooms, airports and railway stations. Robots can work particularly efficiently in these areas thanks to their high area coverage and consistent quality – especially at heights between 4 and 8 metres.
How realistic is it that robots will prevail in this market?
Very realistic – especially through targeted pilot projects, transparent cost-benefit analyses and close cooperation with industry partners. Technological progress in the construction industry is advancing rapidly, and companies are increasingly looking for solutions to cope with skills shortages, tight deadlines and rising costs. Robots, such as the i-paint XL, provide an effective solution in this context.
How flexible are painting robots?
Painting robots like the i-paint XL are ideal for new buildings, renovations, conversions, and maintenance. With high daily output, short set-up times, and easy integration, they provide flexible and scalable solutions, even at short notice for construction delays or maintenance.
Which industries benefit most from painting robots such as i-paint XL?
Painting robots are ideal for three specific industries:
- Semiconductors and high-tech: High demands on precision and cleanliness, e.g. in clean rooms. i-paint XL offers dust-free coating and consistent results – ideal for sensitive environments.
- Logistics and industry: Large areas and regular maintenance work. Robots enable fast, cost-efficient deployment here – even at short notice, e.g. at weekends.
- Public infrastructure: Railway stations, airports and tunnels require efficient, plannable coating solutions. Automated processes and minimal disruption to operations make robots particularly suitable.
What makes painting robots a cost-effective solution?
Automation brings clear financial benefits: robots work consistently, precisely and do not require breaks. Especially for large-scale projects, they reduce personnel requirements, shorten project times and thus lower overall costs. In addition, they increase work safety and deliver consistently high quality – an important aspect in demanding industrial construction.
